Pathogenesis

Another night of poetry!!

Pathogenesis

It’s possible that you penetrated my skin

But maybe I inhaled you

You could have been ingested

Or utilized my vision

Throwing me into the peril I’m in

Your incubation period

Made me delirious

A state of grace, it gave me hope

I attributed inflammation to glow

No damage was shown

But now I’m torn

It was only the eye of the storm

Never have I encountered such virulence

Or such dedication to colonization

I have no adequate defense

Reluctantly under your control

You’re a very efficient microbe

There’s a toxin spreading

The venom is budding

My balance is lessening

This fever is flowering

Instigator of an inner rising

Your affect would be commensal

That’s what you claimed

All the lies that I embraced

I deeply thought mutual

Trusting a germ, I’m near my grave

Your incubation period

Made me delirious

A state of grace, it gave me hope

I attributed inflammation to glow

No damage was shown

But now I’m torn

It was only the eye of the storm

Deceptive misapprehension

You were always a pathogen

Not latent, lying hidden

Fading my strength

Leaving me weak

There’s a toxin spreading

The venom is budding

My balance is lessening

As this fever is flowering

Instigator of an inner rising

You will be the death of me.

Don’t let the bed bugs bite!
