Three days ago I posted to Facebook: “Challenge! Give me a line with ten syllables that rhymes with ‘lame’.”
My responses were:
S: ‘what are you doing you are so lame’ (9 syllables)
E: ‘the only time we came here there was sun’
R: ‘Those with fame, who know no shame, are just lame.’
J: ‘Bearing people to shame is freaking lame’
T: ‘I can give you 7 syllables: inertial reference frame’
I took these responses, put it all together, formatted it and came up with:
Inertial Reference Frame
Ask me what I’m doing; you’ll think me lame
Never-ending story,never-ending game
***
‘The only time we came here there was sun’
You used to think me sane; watch me come undone
***
And neither depiction from either wise man
Apply to me; they fall flat on the page
***
Since one wise guy
‘Those with fame, who know no shame, are just lame’
Is countered by
‘Bearing people to shame is freaking lame’
***
But where am I?
So much lame that doesn’t apply to me
***
When you say
‘What are you doing, you are so lame’
I’m just trying to leap off of the page
