Alarm

My newest poem:

2014-07-21-21-28-10

Alarm

I set us up for failure
Made him into a thief
What was meant for two
I gave to three

***

I never liked alarms
They are always so brash
Jolt you from sleepy confusion
A false peace that never lasts

***

Our first anniversary
Magic, vivid and strong
We became cursory
We snoozed too long

***

Though they were your kisses
I still gave them to him
All of our hugs, touches, glances
Hidden, buried, lost in his

***

I never liked alarms
They are always so brash
Jolt you from sleepy confusion
A false peace that never lasts

***

But what I hate most about alarms
Is that I needed one with you

******

I hope everyone is having a splendiferous summer!
