Mountains

Share your beautiful thoughts

And make me ever the more lost

My primitive mind can’t comprehend

Where your brain has always lived

***

I’m still in the story you painted

The cool grass and sun kissed wishes

I had already climbed the mountain

But here I am again

***

I scaled the side without you in tow

Now I’m supposed to back up and hope

I’m still tired from the first climb

I have no energy to expend

***

When it comes to decorative language

At the top of the mountain

Is where I’ve always been

***

I’m the tree

That’s ready to tumble

I’m the avalanche

That’s ready to stumble

Don’t you tell me about mountains

They’re all that I know

***

You gave your confession

You were never in my direction

But you’re afraid to lose control

So you send me words of hope

***

You tell me of the different paths

The empty and the beautiful road

And love we can never have

Unless it happens to be so

***

I’ve already fallen for pretend

No more of me can I extend

I’m trying not to be hollow

But you’ve taken my glow

***

When it comes to decorative language

At the top of the mountain

Is where I’ve always been

***

I’m the tree

That’s ready to tumble

I’m the avalanche

That’s ready to stumble

Don’t you tell me about mountains

They’re all that I know

*

And all that you know is “unable”
